How did you start in motorsport?

My love for motorsport started at the tender age of 5, when I was dragged to rallycross events every year at the Croft Race circuit. 12 years later it was me doing the dragging, to local road and stage rallies! I started off marshalling, gaining the experience needed to fully understand the intricacies of rally timing. Then, in 2000, came my first taste of competition when I navigated on a local Car Club 12 car rally.

What was your first stage event

I sat with a local lad called Andy on the Grizedale Stages.

Have you ever driven on a rally?

No, I think I’d be too slow driving a rally car, I'll stick with co-driving I think!

Do you marshal or spectate?

I used to marshal a lot but I struggle for time now due to competing. I never spectate if I can help it, I’m the worst spectator, I just whine about not competing!

How many rallies do you do a year?

10-20 if I'm lucky!.

Fave driver?

I like Seb Loeb and Colin McRae was brilliant and will be sadly missed.

Fave co-driver?

Phil Mills, and Luis Moya was excellent too.

Fave stage?

A 19 miler on the Manx, WOW that was amazing, hard work but the buzz was great.

Good things about rallying?

Meeting lots of lovely people and doing well.

Bad things about rallying?

Sometimes it just goes all against you for a few events and you get a bit disheartened.

Which drivers have you sat with?

Ian Evans, Ian Cartwright, Simon Lassam, Colin McRae, Dave Wright, Neil Weaver, Gary Standen, Jonny Perrott, Ian Godney , Mandy Twynham, Kosti, Hugh Hunter, Steve King, Jonny Milner, Andy, Graham Gaskel, John Cope, Steve Perez , Gary Gee, Alistair Willis, Simon Hughes, Tom Boardman, Rob Barry, Darren Atkinson,  Phil Morton, Steve Bannister, Peter Jackson, Chris Powis, Damian Cole, Ian Brown, Tony Thompson, Craig Middleton, Julian Reynolds, Dave Calvert, Geoff Jones, Philip Morrow, Ian Joel, Andrew Burton (sorry if I’ve missed anyone!)

Who was the best driver you have sat with?

That's really tough, they are all talented in different ways Colin McRae, Ian Evans, Dave Wright, John Perrott, Geoff Jones, Julian Reynolds and Andrew Burton are the ones who really impressed me.

Best results?

1st overall Woodpecker Rally 2004 & 2005 with John Perrott, 1st overall Plains Rally 2005 with Geoff Jones, 1st overall Quinton, Severn Valley and Bulldog 2007 with Andrew Burton.

Worst result?

Grizedale Stages 2001, we only did 6 bends oops!

Best rallying memory?

1999 RAC, it was brilliant, my first stage event watching and met loads of drivers too.

Strangest happening on a rally

Got to be Grizedale 2004, we went off on last stage about 3 miles in and I was in extreme pain after a heavy landing. We managed to finish the rally, got 1st in class & 5th overall but at the finish I could not get out of the car to hand the time cards in. So I was sat in a Conistion car park, not a scratch on car but there's me being pulled out of the car in the seat and I think everyone was puzzled what was happening. Got to hospital and I'd broke my spine. I'm better now though!

What was your biggest accident

I’d say on the Cambrian with Gary Standen, we hit a bank flat out and rolled her in the air. One that wasn’t a big accident but was scary was rolling with Tom Boardman on the top hairpin at Sweet Lamb, it’s a long way down that hilliside!

How could you improve yourself?

There are many ways I’m always learning new things as a co-driver and I think you never stop learning

If you won the lottery how would you use it in rallying?

I would help some of the drivers that I have sat with to improve or upgrade their cars and I would use some of it to help younger co-drivers like myself but one thing I really would like to do would be donate to the resue crews like Harold and Les and also helicopter rescue.

Where would you like to compete?

New Zealand or Finland.

What rally would you like to do?

Donegal.

Who would you like to co-drive for?

Alister McRae and Mark Perrott, I think they could teach me a lot.

Best up and coming driver?

Bogie junior

Best up and coming co-driver?

Ha ha ha no comment!
